Who We Are - Our People

The firm is led by directors Karen Scholes, whose father founded the practice in 1967, and Ivan Houston, who joined in 2003.

Our Kirkwall office employs around 18 people, who come from a very diverse range of backgrounds; this is one of our great strengths. Collectively we have backgrounds in agriculture, construction, financial services and many other sectors, within and outwith Orkney. Some of our staff have over 40 years’ accountancy experience; others are just starting out.

Leonard Scholes manages the Employer Services department, and is an expert on payroll, PAYE and NI and related matters.

Bob Walker manages the Taxation department, handling in particular income tax and self assessment enquiries.

Graham Sinclair manages our day-to-day operations and also oversees general administration; he is often the first person people see when they come into our offices!

As a firm we believe strongly in the importance of our people. We invest very heavily in training and continuous professional development, to ensure that our clients enjoy the benefits of advice from a highly knowledgeable and up-to-date team. We are also promoting the future of our firm through our comprehensive graduate trainee programme.
